All smiles for adventure park

WORK is underway on an exciting new adventure play park in Silksworth. The £937,000 development, at Silksworth Sports Complex, will see indoor and outdoor play areas being created by March 2010. The indoor part of the project will include adventurous play spaces, a chill-out zone, areas for various activities such as dance mats and Wii games, and a sensory room for children with complex needs and disabilities.

Swimming pool will make a big splash

WORK is pressing ahead on Silksworth’s new 25-metre pool. The pool, which will join on to the existing Sunderland Tennis Centre, is due to be completed by December, with its doors opening to the public in January. The complex will include a four-lane swimming pool for up to 71 bathers, a spectator area, changing village, reception desk and area, a multi-purpose meeting room, baby-change area and facilities for people who need help with changing.
