All working together
WORK is almost complete on Washington’s fi rst extra care housing scheme. The Woodridge Gardens development, on the site of the former Woodlands’ Residential Home in Oxclose Road, Washington, will provide older people with their own home in a communal scheme where 24/7 care and support is available. The £5.5million development, due for completion in December, will include a restaurant, communal areas, multipurpose activity areas, hair salon, communal laundry, full wheelchair access and landscaped gardens.
Banner is once again on parade
USWORTH Colliery’s banner is set to be paraded at next year’s Durham Miner’s Gala. The banner, which is kept at Usworth and District Working Men’s Club, made its first public appearance since 1984 at the recent Washington Heritage Day. Thanks to support from the club, Usworth Banner Group, local councillors, and Washington F Pit Banner Group, the banner is now set to appear at Durham Miner’s Gala.
